Controlled Uncontrollables: SAD and the Bubble Printer

Developed in the context of Human 2 Objects project, the main concept was to reflect the human capacity to transform natural elements and to use the human body and its spatiality as an input for interactivity. As a result, the exhibition Controlled Uncontrollables is composed of two sculptural installations in a delicate interplay of art and technology.

Amelia and the Machine – Choreography with autonomous moving systems

First in a series of investigations of creative human-robot teams led by Dr. Kate Sicchio (choreography) and Dr. Patrick Martin (robotics). It explores gestures of the robot arm as a starting point for a duet. Interacting through mimicry, timings and spatial patterns, this piece examines choreography beyond our own human bodies and how we begin to dance with machines.

Found in Translation is an interactive, immersive installation where using their own spoken sentences, visitors viscerally experience the process of machine translation. Visualizations show how the machine learning model clusters words from different languages by semantic similarity, and translations are presented typographically and auditorily across 24 languages.

Dökk – Live media performance by fuse*

Dökk (‘darkness’ in Icelandic) is the new live-media performance by fuse* and the natural evolution of Ljós (‘light’). Dökk is about a journey throughout a sequence of digital landscapes where the perception of space and time is altered.

The RWM MK1 (Radio Wave Modulator Mark 1) is an experimental electronic synthesizer that captures and transforms the constant stream of radio waves and transmissions passing through Earth’s atmosphere.
