Laser Microphone – Hear The Secret Sounds Of The Natural World

At every moment, we are surrounded by thousands of sounds too quiet to hear: bubbles in water, the movement of an insect’s legs, sand falling in an hourglass. Objects oscillating with undetectable amplitudes are creating symphonies all around us that we are deaf to. How can we tune into the secret sonic landscapes of the…

Soft Sound – Textiles as electroacoustic transducers

Created by EJTECH (Esteban de la Torre and Judit Eszter Kárpáti), Soft Sound is practice-led research that combines textiles with sound to explore possibilities for encountering, enhancing and exploring multi-sensory experiences. The project explores the relationship between textile and sound, focusing on the idea of using textile as an audio emitting surface.

Beepscape for Walla

Beepscape for Walla is a simulation of a forest in nature, gathering the beep sounds of old mechanical devices. Each electronic light-sound device has a light sensor on the circuit, it makes the sound of a grass bug made of beep responding to hand-drawing animation projected by a projector.

Sonic Imagination – When We Grow Old

Sonic Imagination is a speculative auditive environment that places four scenarios for demographic change in Switzerland until the year 2070 on the Freilager-Platz in Basel. The project investigates the hypothesis that virtual sound sources in media-enhanced listening environments are particularly suitable for triggering and controlling imaginations in people’s inner perception.

Algae Chorus is a sound installation that collaborates with living algae, in real time, transforming their movement and photosynthesis process into sounds. The algae utilize the audience’s collective carbon exhalations within the exhibition space, revealing the mutual dependencies between humans and photosynthetic organisms.

In a world constantly adjusting and adapting to new methods of communication and connection expedited by rapid technological advancements, artist Amay Kataria explores what it means to be human.

Created by Yuri Suzuki Design Studio and presented at the recent Milan Design Week, Sonic Pendulum is a sound installation in which articial intelligence imagines and materialises an endless soundscape.

Created by Mo H. Zareei, Rasper, Mutor and Rippler are a series of mechatronic sound-sculptures inspired by Brutalist architecture. The instruments are grouped into three different categories, based on the material and sound production mechanism they employ.

Inspired by acupuncture, this sculptural instrument is designed to control sound elements in real time by fixing specific pins into a spinning disk.
