Document 1. – CAN’s new event series examines cross-disciplinary practice

CAN has joined forces with UAL Creative Computing Institute to present the first in a series of events that examine new forms of cross-disciplinary art and design practice. Entitled “Document 1.”, it’s comprised of a workshop, seminar, and symposium, and takes place March 11th–13th at UAL’s Camberwell College of Art in London.

HOLO 2.5 Launched!

HOLO is ending the year with a bang: a new website. Launched six weeks ago,
HOLO.mg expands the print magazine into a more robust, ‘always on’ editorial and curatorial platform. Already a hub of activity, two major research projects are underway, and a slate of new stories and favourites from the HOLO archive are due in 2021.

Seaquence – Growin’ groove in a Petri dish

What if tweaking rhythm and melodic loops was like editing DNA? This is the question at the heart of Seaquence, a new iOS app by Okaynokay where you populate a Petri dish with ‘creatures’ that visually represent their sonic properties. A bold step away from conventional interface paradigms, it blends notions of tool, instrument, and game into something new and distinct.

Pittsburgh’s Art && Code returns with a much-needed consideration of “new and independent visions for VR, MR, and AR.” Taking place from Oct 6-9th, and deliriously titled WEIRD REALITY, the four-day symposium gathers many of the best and brightest working in and at the fringes of immersive media.

HOLO is ending the year with a bang: a new website. Launched six weeks ago,

HOLO curates a series of critical conversations and hands-on exercises as part of the 20th Edition of MUTEK Monreal, Aug 20-25.

The CAN/HOLO team is headed to Montréal for the 18th edition of MUTEK. A celebration of the best and brightest in audiovisual performance, we’ll be hosting ‘HOLO Encounters’ with several of the festival’s featured artists.

Join us at the 13th edition of Mapping festival (May 11 to 28) in Geneva, Switzerland, for an eclectic exhibition, workshop, and performance program and – a Mapping first – the two-day forum “Paradigm Shift”.

The third edition of IAM’s yearly gathering for internet people, themed around The Renaissance of Utopias, using utopias as a tool to imagine better futures and navigate the complexity and uncertainty of our times.

Created by Reza Ali, F3, [Form From Function], is a playful and powerful 3D design app that enables you to live code 3D form, rapidly iterate on its design, and export for 3D printing, rendering and animation. F3 uses signed distance functions (SDFs) to build forms – designing 3D forms using 2D image cross sections.
