The Weather Followers – Bringing serendipity to the digital life

Instead of relying on ‘accurate’ data, intangible algorithms and hidden lines of code-driven lifestyles, this device brings serendipity to your digital life, using constantly evolving weather data recorded by four weather instruments.

interference [dac] – Cross medium light wave distortions

Created by Technical Earth (Mo H. Zareei + Jim Murphy), interference [dac] is an audiovisual installation that explores the combination and interaction of waveforms in one medium with those of another. In the installation, which includes a linear array of four miniature projectors  affixed to loudspeaker cones, sound waves affect light waves while analogue elements alter digital ones.

Spheres of Influence – Drawing lifelines of the city

Created by the SCI-Arc Faculty members Curime Batliner and Jake Newsum for the for the third annual Mextropoli Festival, Spheres of Influence is a temporary installation installed in the patio of Laboratorio Arte Alameda. Part installation and part live performance,  it uses a robotic system from Staubli to paint layers of graphics (abstracted from the city) onto a series of human-scale spheres.

MASSES – Searching for a perfect equilibrium state

Created by Quadrature and first shown at this years’ Ars Electronica festival in Linz, MASSES installation includes two stones lying on top of a balanced steel plate and a machine with aim to create a perfect equilibrium state by moving the stones to the appropriate positions.

Digital Art of Tehran – TADAEX06

In a little over a week, the 6th edition of TADAEX festival (Tehran Annual Digital Art Exhibition) takes place at Mohsen Gallery in Tehran, Iran. It’s a strong manifestation of the digital scene in Tehran and the people who make it possible, it features Iranian digital artists as well as far reaching international network of collaborators thanks to an ongoing residency program with NODE Forum for Digital Arts.

“Three Pieces with Titles” is the latest audiovisual performance by Montreal’s artificiel. In it Alexandre Burton and Julien Roy manipulate an eclectic collection of objects within the field of view of a computer vision system to generate real-time video and abstract sonic collage.

NODE17 x FRAMED are calling for vvvv artwork submissions for the forthcoming festival taking place in Frankfurt/Germany from 26 June until 2nd of July, 2017.

A project by Design I/O for TIFF Kids International Film Festival’s interactive playground digiPlaySpace, Mimic brings a UR5 robotic arm to life and imbues it with personality. Playfully craning its neck to get a better look, arcing back when it is startled – it responds to each child that enters its field of view.

Powered by a dizzying array of parametric meta-controls, VIDEOGAMO’s ‘party console’ DOBOTONE invites (up to) four players to cycle through a strange and fiercely competitive selection of lo-fi videogames.

The Mylar Topology is a new audiovisual performance by the London-based artist Paul Prudence. In it liquid forms ripple along with binaural beats, forming vertebral columns and congealing oil slicks – which dissipate as quickly as they form.

Created by Alex McLean (Yaxu), Spicule is an album released as a Pi Zero with high quality DAC in custom case, allowing the tracks to be remixed and reworked using the TidalCycles live coding environment.

Taking place at Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Lima between 17 March – 19 June, New Realities is a touring exhibition curated and produced by Alpha-ville which explores how the phenomenal pace of technological advancement is changing the way we perceive ourselves and our world.
