Halcyon is the result of months of Zach trying to figure out what would make a good iPad game. Although it took a lot longer than expected, Zach says it was about getting used to what the iPad was as an object, and how it was comfortable to use.

Each alien is procedurally generated out of a file on your computer. When you kill an alien, the file it was created from is destroyed. On the other hand, if you are killed, the application itself will be destroyed.

Zach Gage has just announced a new iPhone application he is working on, Face It (working title). Thanks to the new features of iPhone 3Gs, Face It utilizes device’s built in compass to create a musical and spatial experience where the task is to orientate yourself in the direction of incoming sounds.
Cells is a sound sequencer that uses Conway’s Game of Life to generate notes. Each box of each layer can be tuned to a collection of notes. The notes go from left to right, and are frequency modulated from top to bottom. Each layer has it’s own set of notes. Because Conway’s game of life often ends, layers can be set to loop, playing a certain number of iterations and then returning to the start.
